Office Space

Ikea really hooked it up for us when it came to establishing an office space in our apartment.

This room doubles as a dining room/workspace....with the dining room part quickly becoming more and more irrelevant and more of a catch-all for random household crap.

However, the computer corner has evolved into a space for scheduling, blogging, and otherwise, just gettin stuff done.

First score was the chair. I coveted this piece from ikea, and so I bought it. At $149, it was a tiny bit more than I wanted to spend on a computer chair, but we sit in it often and the style won me over, and I get tons of compliments on it, too!

The second item i purchased was the white filing cabinet, also from IKEA. I usually save the assembly for my husband, but this time, I wanted it put together so bad, I did it myself. Surprisingly and fortunately, it wasn't that hard at all! And at $99, the price was pretty good. It's also really a nice looking piece for a file cabinet - very smooth and not huge office ugly-like. Excellent use of adjectives, I know.

The desk is a long-ago purchase from IKEA, I've known it longer than my husband! My friend who built sets for shows actually assembled it for me. It's been with me since I lived in my parents house. Not the bestest for storage, but it does have a drawer that stores the keyboard and a little shelf underneath for the printer. Not bad.

The magazine and storage boxes are also from the big I. They do require assembly, much like everything else in the store...and the boxes are not super sturdy. But they do hide things pretty-like and they're cheap. So it works. Just don't expect to store anything too heavy/bulky inside of them. They come in many sizes and they're all less than $10.

And the yellow flower pictures? Well, they were $7! So nice, I bought em twice.

So that's my little office nook. I'd love to hear how you defined your own workspace, and where you got your gear!!
