Rub a dub ugh

Our bathroom is a hot mess. And we're having people over on Saturday. Enter panic! Enter embarassment!

Not really. But it looks awful and I'd rather it didn't when people see our place.

Upstairs leaks into our bathroom. Despite several attempts (and 2 huge holes in the ceiling within 2 years to try to "figure out" the problem), it still leaks. So back in February, a nice fellow came at 8:30AM on Saturday (sigh), to plaster in the new, useless hole that yielded no information. After 3 hours of having no bathroom, we decided to tell him we'd prime the room ourselves, and he was on his merry way.

So it sat like this for a few weeks.

Plaster. And one lightbulb. hot.

plaster splash

simply a mess.

You may notice that the walls are a high gloss shade of green. But high gloss in bathrooms/kitchens = good. High gloss in bathrooms with disastrous walls? Not so good. The gloss highlights each flaw, and truth be told, I was also sick of the green. I had slapped it on quickly after we moved in, so now that there was plaster crap all over the walls, it was time to change the color.

And then I saw the color Simply Irrestible in House Beautiful - and i COULD'NT resist (nerd).
I am going to put in some stripes methinks. Hopefully I do not singlehandedly destroy something that's pretty much already destroyed.

I did start painting yesterday. I did primer and two coats, and then I quit - for no other reason than that I was tired. And I wanted to sit around for the rest of the afternoon and read magazines.

I took a trip to Homegoods when my 11am student was sick, and here is the new shower curtain I picked up!

The color compliments Ben's Simply so well - and I figured it was cool because it had some nice accent colors I could play with, too.
Oh yeah, and here's a blurry picture of the price. Once I figure out the right way to take pictures of things, I'll let you know.

So hopefully tonight I'll get around to putting on that final coat. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...
